FIRST REVIEW: The men's club 3 episode one

TMC REVIEW!!!

About TMC:
TMC- The Men's Club is a YouTube series produced by the popular lifestyle channel REDTV in association with the United Bank for Africa(I bank with them by the way!).
The men's club has been blowing up YouTube with amazing characters and story plot for about a year now. The series features actors and actresses like:
-Ayoola Ayolola(Aminu Garba)
-Daniel Etim effiong(Olanrewaju taiwo)
-Efa iwara(Tayo oladapo)
-Baaj adebule(louis okafor)
** Those are the four main characters **
-sharon Ooja(jasmine)
-Mimi Chaka(tunmini)
-Bukola oladipupo(tiara) and others.
The series is in its third season now, the first episode of the third season was released on 22nd July, 2020. The series was directed by Tola Odunsi.

Background story:
If you've been following the story from the first season you'll already know a lot but I'll try to give a brief summary for readers who haven't watched at all. The plot tells a story of four men and the difference turns their lives take. Aminu is a rich Hausa man who works as the managing director of a multi-million dollar company owned by his father, he has a Barbie-doll ex girlfriend who has had a baby for him and a girlfriend. Louis is a mama's boy who can't stray from his mother's orders, we see What happens when he finally rebels. Tayo on the other hand is the confused guy who has two trophy girlfriends at once.. Lucky uhn! And then there is lanre who dates only mummies(widows and hot non-married old women of his own mother's age).

There is no other movie that depicts the popular saying "all men are same" as well as TMC. I'm not trying to be a misandrist but the movie literally screams it!... I mean What else says men think the same way as much as four friends all having more than one woman in their lives at every point?
While the movie is not perfect, how the plot waves in and out of the life of four main characters and spins the story in such a way your eyes are glued to the screen through every episode is fantastic. Any movie-especially if it's a series-that keeps people coming back for more is worth a rating of 7.5(if you don't agree please comment πŸ€“).

I'm gonna be reviewing under four points:
-Highlights of the episode
-Cinematography and plot
-Character check
-What I want to see in the next episode
*i might drop some spoilers *

Highlights of the episode:
- The first thing that hit me was how lanre pronounced his own name!!! 😣...the poor guy isn't Yoruba. It was so obvious🀧
-i just noticed how rich Aminu really is!... He actually rode on the helicopter back to his office instead of going by road.. Like how dope is that!!!
-I'm still asking myself what Tonye(louis' ex-wife) really wants the house back for...like who wants to move into a house being occupied by your ex?!
-why on earth does jasmine keep pushing to be with aminu though..its obvious they're never gonna be!... Isn't She too pretty to be holding onto a man??!... But it's something that ladies do all the time, keep hanging onto someone that doesn't even want to have anything to do with youπŸ˜ͺ
-The whole irony at the party scene was a boom!!... Lola's mum is a beauty though!!! And such irony!!!...she is lanre's type.

Cinematography and plot: I feel the director and writer(s) did their jobs well for the most part. The sound and video quality were on point. And the story is generally a good one(at least from my point of view as a writer though there are a few things I'll like to tweak). The theme song and other songs used in the episode were good fits except for the party scene, I feel the song should have been something sang by olamide or Burna boy, the song was too "tush" for the scene. The fashion style of the actors also brought out the personality of the characters..for instance Aminu usually doesn't wear suits like your regular office man, he wore a lot of Hausa traditional attires and tiara's bubbly and childish nature was brought to life by her bright gold wig and brightly colored clothes.

Character check:
-louis' dialogue: at the party scene, I feel some part of his dialogue could have been screened out. Not every word is needed in some scenes. The  "find a girl that would change your  whole phase" statement wasn't needed
-the dialogue between patrick(aminu's brother) and Aminu wasn't well developed. Yes aminu has a secret but they could have written the dialogue to show us more
-Do ladies really react the way Tonye did after divorce? Also Louis throwing money at tonye wasn't realistic.. No normal man would do that.. Especially not in her condition.
-Tiara was too childish. She acted  out her character well if that was what the writer aimed to portray(who can do it better than Bukola, she is a great actress!!) But I feel her excitement about the party was too much
-Honestly they didn't need a planner for the party. The house was well decorated already, all the did was add balloons! πŸ’

What I expect to see in the next episode
Okay this is the part where I guess what's gonna happen next!!!
-Lanre might actually try to introduce his latest bae to his friends!!!.that'll be hilarious.
- I noticed Sola Sobowale was in the trailer...what if lanre dates her next πŸ˜‚..he would be in so much trouble
-louis just might be moving back in with his ex-wife and start living in the same house with his both his ex and his present.
-What if Aminu quit his father's company... I mean, he has had enough of annoying Patrick already and if the baby turns out to not be his.. That be an extra bomb
-Tayo's other bae is definitely coming back soon.. And then his confusion would start again!

I could go on and on predicting, but it's better we just wait for the next episode(I absolutely can't wait!!!) if you've seen the first episode please drop your rating in the comments(mine is a 7.5 out of 10 but we don't have to agree, you can also give reasons for your rating)
I hope I've been able to carry you through the episode without too much spoilers(for those who haven't watched). For readers who haven't watched, I hope you enjoyed my review πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

  3. Well, I feel Aminu ain't like the other guys. He knows what he wants just that circumstances has placed Jasmine in his life which he's trying hard to avoid until a child came into the scenario. For the birthday party, I feel the scene of Aminu and Patrick ain't well played out. Patrick is acting too nice and desperate at the same time despite knowing the plot of Jasmine against Aminu.
About Lanre and his weird taste in women, Lola will get to know coz Louis can't keep secret. He'll surely spill it.
I didn't really feel the replacement for Tonye's, she's too cool and trying hard to get Tonye's accent. More so, I expected more drama from her than just sitting down like a toothless bull dog. After all the ill treatment received from Louis, she shouldn't be that nice as she's got nothing to lose in the long run.

  4. I'm going to agree with you on Patrick and Aminu's conversation. As I already said in my review, it was underdeveloped.
I feel Tonye has got everything to lose though, she is using the house as an opportunity to tie a noose around Louis'neck..she is desperate. As for the "tonye actor replacement" I've seen the new actress in another YouTube series and she really isn't too bad but every actor brings their own personality into the character so we can't blame her if she isn't like the tonye we know.
